Letter from our President
Dear Ladies,
At our March meeting, we welcomed five new members. They are Nguyen Ngoc, wife of the Ambassador of Vietnam, Zeynep Saylan Uras, wife of the Ambassador of Turkey, Liliana Gutan, Councillor at the Embassy of Moldova, Lana Alawadi from Kuwait and Peiyan Zhang from China. Welcome to WIC!
The feedback from members about the Metropolitan Hotel has been extremely positive. Particularly, it was noted that the food was excellent — definitely a venue to consider for a return visit.
We especially enjoyed the fantastic visit to the Athens markets with that unique seafood luncheon. Another activity saw our members prepare and cook their own luncheon at the Kona Kai restaurant — assisted by the Master Chefs to ensure results met with our ladies’ exotic visions and expectations! Although it sounds as if these activities were designed to satisfy the needs of our stomachs, the real success of these events is the creation of a very happy and relaxed occasion where quality friendships can be established and strengthened across the international mix of our wonderful membership — an objective which lies at the hear of WIC.
We are transitioning from late spring into early summer as we move into May and June. We have two delightful General Meetings to look forward to. Firstly, at the Glyfada Golf Club in May, we are honoured to have a talk by Stephen Byers, joining us from London. In June, we have an exciting meeting at the St George Lycabettus Hotel, arranged especially for us by our dear Honorary President, Khadija El Ansari. It will have a Moroccan lunch and fashion show, and promises to be a special meeting.
The flowers for May and June are the Lily of the Valley on the front cover, and the flower that has fuelled the pens of a million poets, the Rose, on the back cover. On behalf of the entire Board, I send special greetings to all of our members who will be celebrating their birthdays during these months, and wish all a happy summer.
As always, with affection,
Samia
